Youth and children
| CHILDREN ARE VALUED AND CATERED FOR EVERY SUNDAY Child Protection The Parish has a Child Protection Policy, which is reviewed annually. All adults who work with children at St Mary's have been fully CRB checked in line with the Diocese of London guidelines. Sunday Children's Groups There is a full programme of children's groups run during the 10.30am service on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays each month. These are for children from the age of 3 upwards. Contact: Lucie Maldoom Crèche for Toddlers There is a soft play facility for toddlers at St Mary's in the side chapel, and parents are encouraged to make use of this as and when need arises. One of the benefits of the Space Project has been the installation of sound-proof glazed screens. Junior Choir and Band Children also sing in the Junior Choir and play in the Band. (For more information on either, see the GROUPS & ACTIVITIES page.) Holiday Club Each Summer St Mary's runs a Children's Holiday Club. This takes place at the end of July during the first full week of the school holidays. It is fast-moving, creative and fun. It is staffed by volunteers from St Mary's, the Baptist Church and St Paul's Catholic Church. In 2006 the dates are Tuesday 25th July to Friday 28th July, from 10 to 12 noon each day. Contact: The Administrator at the Vicarage Office The Harefield Toy Library CLOSED AT PRESENT TIME, HOPING TO RE-OPEN SOON Who are we? The Library is a community project run by a committee. When you join the Library [annual fee £1], you are entitled to stand for the committee at the Annual General Meeting and to vote in those elections. The Library is non-profit making, and is currently supported by St Mary's Church. There is one Library Worker, who runs the sessions. What is the Harefield Toy Library? A library for borrowing toys, without the quiet atmosphere! The session is similar to a toddler group, but our little people can be babies and toys and equipment are loaned out. We have a cosy baby corner with seating for adults as well as the space of a good sized hall. There is a small entry fee per family for the session, which includes refreshments. Part of this fee is put against the borrowing charge for any toy taken out. All fees are modest and no one should feel excluded on the basis of cost. Speak to the library worker about this. Session outline
Perhaps you care for children full time, part time or are expecting the grandchildren to visit then this is for you. There will be company for all and toys to test. What can I borrow?
How do I join? Visitors are welcome to attend a session. Membership is required before toys may be borrowed. If you can bring two forms of ID, including one giving proof of address, you can join on the day. You don't have to live in Harefield to join. Volunteers If being around mums and children sounds appealing, and you would like to help out somewhere, how about helping as a volunteer at the Library? Speak to the Library Worker about this. If you would like to help on the committee, speak to the Chair person. Other Activities for Children and Young People Several other groups meet at St Mary's Church Hall. These include ..
